Arionne Nettles is a multimedia journalist and editor with a love for strong storytelling and clean copy. She’s currently a digital producer for WBEZ, where her responsibilities include copy editing text, managing audio and producing photos and videos for stories on wbez.org. She is the final line of defense for the station’s daily online stories while managing engagement with audiences across digital platforms.
Prior to joining the WBEZ team, Arionne was a multiplatform editor at The Associated Press and digital managing editor at one of the nation’s oldest black newspapers — the Chicago Defender. She also spent seven years gaining experience in supply chain, digital marketing strategy and freelance reporting before pivoting to full-time journalism.
Arionne is a proud MBA graduate of Florida A&M University and received a second master’s degree at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism where she currently teaches news reporting to graduate students as an adjunct lecturer. She also works to teach Chicago-area teens the power of words through her organization, Write Chicago, and its “sicker than your average” writing workshops.
